We are a community of like-minded individuals who arrived in the UK from Sri Lanka between 2,000 and 2,005 due to the civil war in our homeland. Our shared experiences and bonds led us to form a close-knit family of over 20 families, united by a common purpose: to care for and support one another.
As time passed, we recognized the urgent need to address the hardships faced by our fellow Sri Lankans. War and poverty had taken a toll on their lives, hindering economic growth and limiting opportunities. We were determined to make a difference.
Our mission was clear: to provide a sustainable solution for poverty alleviation. While Sri Lankans possessed immense talent and motivation, financial constraints hindered their educational pursuits and entrepreneurial dreams. We devised a methodical approach, guiding candidates from selection through the completion of their studies and the establishment of their businesses.
Recognizing our limitations as a group of 20, we decided to formalize our efforts. Inter-Build Aid was born—a registered charity in the UK (Charity number: 1137970). Our goal was to engage fellow citizens in supporting needy Sri Lankans. We partnered with Muslim Aid Sri Lanka, leveraging their resources across the country, especially in war-affected border villages. Their field officers interviewed and vetted candidates, ensuring suitability and transparency.
Over the past decade, this partnership has touched the lives of more than 1,600 families, thanks to the generosity of our donors. Looking ahead, we aspire to expand Inter-Build Aid into a mainstream charity, providing sustainable solutions and bringing light to those in need.
Behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live artes we do in the world of finance.
